Darla Tesmer—Deposit Policy

To hold a puppy, we require half of the price of the puppy in cash, personal check or postal money order. Deposits are non-refundable and a puppy will not be held until the payment is received.  A receipt will be mailed to purchaser.  You must sign and return a deposit contract before a puppy will be held.

After placing a deposit on a puppy, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit your puppy per breeder’s schedule.

When your puppy is ready to go home, you will be notified and asked to set up a time to pick up your puppy with in the next five days.  If you have extenuating circumstances (vacation, illness etc.) and need to extend this date time, please notify breeder as soon as possible. The remaining balance is due at the time of puppy pick-up.

Puppies may be held for special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas etc. free of charge (except for the required deposit) up until the puppy reaches 9 weeks of age.

Deposits are non-refundable because I stop advertising for puppies with deposits holding them. The pet is being held especially for you. If it is decided that the puppy is no longer wanted, more time and money must be spent in finding it a home.  As puppies get older, it is harder to sell them.  People want to bond with their animals at a young age.  The older the puppy, the longer it takes to find an owner.  This is expensive as well as time-consuming.

If circumstances make it impossible for you to buy the puppy or you change your mind, you can use the deposit to reserve a puppy for up to one year.  Deposits are non-transferable.  It is important for me to know who is receiving a puppy.

It is my goal that each puppy makes an easy transition from my family to yours.

Deposit contract

Please sign and return this by mail with your deposit.  Your puppy will not be reserved for you, until this is received.

     I understand that the deposit made to Darla Tesmer, breeder, to reserve a puppy is non-refundable.  If I choose not to buy a puppy, no matter what the circumstances, my deposit will not be refunded.  The deposit may be held and applied toward another puppy for a period of up to one year. If a check is returned for insufficient funds, the contract is cancelled and must be resigned with a new check.  Checks will be made out to Darla Tesmer.

If the puppy should become ill while in Darla’s care, she will be responsible for any and all vet care which is incurred until the pick up date.  If the puppy should die while in the breeder’s care, the deposit will be applied toward another puppy when one becomes available.  In most cases, it will be the next litter.

I understand that it is at the breeder’s sole discretion to determine when my puppy is ready and available to be picked up or shipped.
